UKY-E Hanging Scroll: New York Knicks

TEAM|New York Knicks

Sale price$3,500.00

A piece featuring Ryogoku Bridge as depicted in Shotei Hokuju's "Scenery of Ryogoku, Toto," with the New York City skyline unfolding in the background. East Tokyo, which nurtured the sacred site of sumo and popular entertainment, meets Manhattan, the birthplace of countless stories. Spanning Ryogoku Bridge, this work captures the energy and landscapes of two "historic entertainment cities" that have consistently thrived amidst enthusiasm, all within a single ukiyo-e print.

▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
A collection titled UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL) that embodies the geographical and historical connections between Japanese and American cities. Just as ukiyo-e is composed of layers—sketches, woodblock carving, and coloring—this series overlays historical ukiyo-e prints from across Japan with actual photographs of corresponding U.S. landmarks, expressing a timeline that transcends space and time. The kakejiku (hanging scrolls) were produced in collaboration with Tokyo-based kakejiku master Taishin Sagawa, with fabrics and textures symbolizing team colors incorporated into the mounting.
