UKY-E Hanging Scroll Golden State Warriors

Depicting a fusion of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Kobe and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco within the worldview of "Goshikihama, Awaji" from the "Famous Places in the Sixty-odd Provinces." Kobe and San Francisco are often described as being like "mirrors" of each other, both having embraced progressive cultures as international ports. This work portrays the history of these two cities, which have moved forward together while embracing international perspectives and progressive cultures, set against the backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea.

▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
A collection of works named UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL) that embodies the geographical and historical connections between various Japanese and American cities. Just as Ukiyo-e is composed of separate layers—sketch, block carving, and coloring—these works superimpose historically existing Ukiyo-e prints from across Japan with real-life photographs of corresponding U.S. landmarks, expressing a timeline that transcends both time and space. The mounting (kakejiku) was created in collaboration with Tokyo-based mounting artisan Taishin Sagawa, incorporating fabrics and textures into the mounting that symbolize the team colors.
