UKY-E Kakejiku Compact Golden State Warriors

TEAM|Golden State Warriors

Sale price$350.00

This piece fuses the world of "Goshiki-hama, Awaji" from the *Famous Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces* with the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Kobe and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Kobe and San Francisco are often described as having a "mirror-like relationship," both having served as international ports that embraced advanced cultures. This work depicts their shared history of adopting global perspectives and progressive cultural influences, set against the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea.

▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
A collection of works titled UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL) that embodies the geographical and historical ties between cities in Japan and the United States. Just as ukiyo-e is composed of distinct layers—preliminary sketches, block carving, and color application—this series superimposes historical ukiyo-e prints from various parts of Japan with photographs of corresponding landmarks in the U.S., expressing world lines that transcend time and place. The mounting of these hanging scrolls was produced in collaboration with Tokyo-based scroll maker Taishin Sagawa, incorporating fabrics and textures that symbolize the team colors into the mounting.
