TEAM|Denver Nuggets
Inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s "Thunderstorm Beneath the Summit" from the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, this piece superimposes the magnificent Red Fuji with the Rocky Mountains. It connects Yamanashi and Colorado, two regions that share a historical bond as the heart of former gold rushes. Amidst the grandeur of these two iconic mountains, it fuses the indomitable spirit, unwavering pride, and boundless resilience of both regions.
▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL) is a collection of works that embody the geographical and historical ties between cities in Japan and the United States. Just as ukiyo-e is composed of layers—the sketch, the woodblock carving, and the application of color—this series superimposes historical ukiyo-e prints from across Japan with actual photographs of corresponding landmarks in the U.S., expressing a timeline that transcends time and space. The kakejiku (hanging scrolls) are produced in collaboration with Tokyo-based mounting artisan Taishin Sagawa, with the mountings incorporating fabrics and textures that symbolize team colors.
