UKY-E Hanging Scroll Boston Celtics

TEAM|Boston Celtics

Sale price$3,500.00

Inspired by the ukiyo-e print "Amanohashidate in Tango" from the series One Hundred Views of Famous Places in Various Provinces, this piece fuses the mystical scenic beauty of Amanohashidate with the iconic Boston skyline stretching out behind it. Kyoto’s northern region and Boston are sister cities that share a common ground in their intellectual depth, traditional roots, autumn foliage, and tea culture. This work brings together the supreme elegance and beautiful historical landscapes that both cities take pride in within a single composition.

▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
A collection of works titled UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL) that embodies the geographical and historical connections between cities in Japan and the United States. Just as ukiyo-e is composed of distinct layers—preparatory sketching, block carving, and color application—these works superimpose actual historical ukiyo-e from various regions of Japan with corresponding photographs of landmarks in the U.S., expressing a timeline that transcends time and space. Created in collaboration with Tokyo-based kakejiku artisan Taishin Sagawa, the mounting of these scrolls incorporates fabrics and textures that symbolize the team's colors.
