A work that overlays the cityscape of Detroit’s riverside with the scene of "Tokaido Kawasaki." Both cities serve as representative "industrial hubs" of Japan and the U.S., and have nurtured unique cultures such as hip-hop. The scenery of the Tama River and the Detroit River are superimposed, with iconic skylines lining their banks. The powerful culture and history of development inherent to each city perform in tandem.

A collection of works named UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL) that embodies the geographical and historical connections between Japanese and American cities. Just as ukiyo-e woodblock prints are composed of layers—sketches, carving, and coloring—these works overlay historically authentic ukiyo-e from various parts of Japan with real-life photographs of corresponding U.S. landmarks, expressing world lines that transcend time and place. The hanging scrolls are produced with the cooperation of Tokyo-based scroll maker Taishin Sagawa, featuring fabrics and textures in the mounting that symbolize team colors.
