UKY-E Hanging Scroll Compact New York Knicks
TEAM|New York Knicks
A piece featuring Ryogoku Bridge as depicted in Shotei Hokuju's "Scenery of Ryogoku in the Eastern Capital," with the New York City skyline stretching out in the background. It captures East Tokyo, the cradle of sumo and popular entertainment, and Manhattan, the birthplace of countless stories. Bridged by the Ryogoku Bridge, this ukiyo-e print encapsulates the fervor and landscape of two "historical entertainment cities" that have always grown alongside great enthusiasm.
▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
A collection titled UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL) that embodies the geographical and historical connections between Japanese and American cities. Just as ukiyo-e is composed of layers—sketches, woodblock carving, and coloring—this series overlays historical ukiyo-e prints from across Japan with actual photographs of corresponding landmarks in the United States, expressing timelines that transcend time and space. The hanging scrolls are produced with the cooperation of Tokyo-based scroll maker Taishin Sagawa, featuring fabrics and textures in the mounting that symbolize the team's colors.
