UKY-E Hanging Scroll Compact Chicago Bulls

This work depicts the majestic Osaka Castle and the cityscape of Chicago, featuring towers that evoke the two horns of the Chicago Bulls. It captures the ambition of the warlord who established his base for the unification of Japan, alongside the historic monument established by the Chicago Bulls. The scene portrays a collaborative performance between the proud history and urban landscapes of the sister cities, Osaka and Chicago.

▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
Named UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL), this collection embodies the geographical and historical ties between cities in Japan and the United States. Much like how ukiyo-e is composed of separate layers—the initial sketch, the block carving, and the application of color—these works superimpose historically authentic ukiyo-e prints from across Japan with actual photographs of corresponding American landmarks, expressing a timeline that transcends both time and space. The hanging scrolls are produced with the cooperation of Tokyo-based mounting artisan Taishin Sagawa, incorporating fabrics and textures that symbolize the team colors into the mounting.
