UKY-E Hanging Scroll Charlotte Hornets

Centered on the worldview of "Itsukushima Shrine at Low Tide in Aki Province" from the 100 Famous Views of the Provinces series, the foreground features Itsukushima Shrine and the Great Torii gate at low tide, with the modern cityscape of Charlotte visible in the background. Both Charlotte and Hiroshima possess an indomitable spirit. This piece fuses the resilient spirit of both cities, which have overcome harsh histories, with the dynamism on the court, all set within the solemn landscape of Aki Miyajima.

▼UKY-E KAKEJIKU
Named UKY-E (UNBOUND KNOTTING YORE - EDITORIAL), this collection embodies the geographical and historical ties between cities in Japan and the United States. Just as Ukiyo-e is composed of distinct layers—preliminary sketches, block carving, and coloring—this work overlays historical Ukiyo-e prints from across Japan with actual photographs of corresponding U.S. landmarks, expressing world lines that transcend time and space. The hanging scrolls were produced in collaboration with Tokyo-based master mounting artist Taishin Sagawa, incorporating fabrics and textures into the mounting that symbolize the team's colors.
